New Delhi: The central government has announced the eighth pay commission for central employees. This commission will be formed soon. Members of the Pay Commission will decide how much salary the central employees will get. Along with the increase in salaries of the employees, various allowances they get will also be reviewed. This commission will decide which allowances to be included and which to be removed.
7th Pay Commission’s decision and salary hike
The 7th Pay Commission had recommended the central government to increase the 2.57 fitment factor in the salaries of employees, with the minimum salary of Rs 18,000 and the maximum salary was Rs 2,25,000. The commission reviewed a total of 196 allowances, of which only 95 were approved. While 101 allowances were abolished or they were combined with some other allowance.

Accident allowance – The report is not included.
Acting allowance – has been abolished, now it is included under additional post allowance.
Air dispatch salary has been abolished.
Call Pilot Allowance – Eliminated.
Family Allowance – Finished
Overtime allowance – expired
Cycle allowance – abolished.
Clothing Allowance – Included in dress allowance
Special Scientific Salary – End
Sundarban allowance – included in difficult allowances – 3
There were many allowances that were abolished or included in other allowances.
What are the expectations from the Eighth Pay Commission?
The terms of the Eighth Pay Commission are expected to be finalized by April 2025. After this, the government will select members and chairman of the pay commission. The new Pay Commission may take about one year to prepare its report after consultation with various stakeholders. The stakeholders will also include representatives of central government employees.
It is estimated that under the Eighth Pay Commission, the salary of employees may increase on the basis of 3.00 fitment factor, which can lead to the minimum basic salary of Rs 26,000. But the final decision will depend on the recommendations of the Commission and the approval of the government.
