Will Rekha Gupta Stay In Arvind Kejriwal’s ’Sheesh Mahal’? What Delhi CM Said | X/PTI

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta clarified her stand on the controversial ‘Sheesh Mahal’ house. Gupta said that she won’t be staying in the house, but would convert it into a museum. Notably, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP)’s poll campaign was centred around the ‘Sheesh Mahal’ controversy.

When asked by reporters whether she would stay in ‘Sheesh Mahal’, Gupta replied, “nahi nahi.” Gupta took oath as the Chief Minister of the National Capital Territory of Delhi on Thursday, February 20. She is a first-time MLA from Shalimar Bagh and was sworn in as Delhi’s fourth woman chief minister at a mega event at Ramlila Ground.

Rekha Gupta’s Statement:

Along with Gupta, six ministers also took the oath. These ministers are – Parvesh Verma, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravindra Kumar Indraj, Pankaj Kumar Singh, Kapil Mishra and Ashish Sood.

The BJP alleged irregularities in the renovation of the bungalow. The saffron party had focused a big part of its assembly election campaign around these allegations, dubbing the bungalow “Sheesh Mahal”.

The BJP had further claimed that the entire cost of building the CM residence house was Rs 52 crore. The BJP had also alleged that curtains in the “Sheesh Mahal” cost Rs one crore, while, the doors of the house are of Rs 70 lakh and TVs worth Rs 65 lakh were also installed in CM’s residence. Notably, the residence was built at the time when Kejriwal was the Chief Minister of Delhi in 2022. He vacated the bungalow after resigning from the CM post last year.

The BJP returned to power in Delhi after 27 years. In the recently concluded, Delhi Assembly Elections, the BJP bagged 48 seats, while the remaining 22 seats were won by the Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
