There has been controversy over Team India’s jersey before the Champions Trophy 2025. It was being claimed that Pakistan’s name would not be on the jersey of the Indian cricket team. Pakistan is the host of the Champions Trophy. Therefore, the name of the host country appears along with the ICC logo on the jerseys of all teams participating in the tournament.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has responded in this matter. BCCI said that they will follow all the rules of ICC. BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia has reacted on the jersey issue. According to a media report, the BCCI Secretary said, “We will follow the ICC guidelines. Whatever instructions the ICC gives, we will do the same.”

BCCI has made it clear that along with the ICC Champions Trophy logo, the name of Pakistan will also be on Team India’s jersey. The ongoing controversy regarding Team India’s jersey before the Champions Trophy will now end.

Why the controversy over Team India’s jersey?

It was being claimed that the name of the Champions Trophy host country Pakistan will not be on Team India’s jersey. Team India is not going to Pakistan for this tournament. They will play their matches in Dubai, UAE. In such a situation, a controversy arose that the Indian team’s jersey would have only the Champions Trophy logo on it. But now BCCI Secretary has clarified the situation regarding this.

What are the jersey rules in ICC tournaments?

Special guidelines have been made for ICC teams regarding jerseys for the tournament. Under this, all the teams will have to put their board’s logo as well as the tournament logo on their jerseys. Along with this, the name of the host country will also have to be mentioned. Had the tournament been held in India, India would have been written on the Champions Trophy logo. But this time the host is Pakistan, so it is important to write its name.
