IPS Avijeet Kumar Ranjan making Katni a Safe Place for Women and Free from Drug Abuse
IPS Avijeet Kumar Ranjan, is a 2014 Batch Officer and is currently posted as Superintendent of Police (SP) in Katni, MP. Known for his Fearless and people centric approach, His mission for the district is to safeguard women and combat narcotics related crime. “These two are our priority sectors—women and narcotics,” he stated. To tackle crime against women and address cases of missing girls and children, Ranjan has implemented systematic monitoring checks. “Regular attendance checks are carried” he said. This helps in early identification, enabling prompt action in case of missing person reports. Under his leadership, more than 1,000 missing women and girls have been recovered in the past year. Additionally “In the entire history of Katni district, the highest number of actions against narcotics related crimes have been taken in the last two years.” With a clear vision, Ranjan aims to make Katni a safe place for women and free from drug abuse.
16 IPS officers retiring in March
As many as 16 IPS officers of various cadres and batches are retiring in March 2025. They are: Issac Pertin, Mari Riba of AGMUT cadre; Ms Shaful Haque, Arvind Kumar Gupta, Vijay Prasad, Md Quasim of Bihar cadre; Hemant Kalson of Haryana; Anil Kushwah and Vineet Khanna of MP; Sanjay Saxena of Maharashtra; Christopher Doungel of Manipur; Temjensenla Jamir of Nagaland; Ajay Maluja of Punjab; Abhash Kumar and Amaraesh Pujari of Tamil Nadu cadre; Sanjoy Mukherjee of West Bengal cadre.
Retd IIS officers likely to be appointed Advisors
According to sources some retired IIS officers are likely to be appointed as Advisors in various ministries or departments. More than a dozen retired IIS officers have applied for the post. The matter is under consideration in the DoPT.

No suitable candidate found for CMD, BSNL
The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has failed to find a suitable candidate for the post of Chairman & Managing Director, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) despite interviewing as many as 10 candidates. The Board recommended the concerned Ministry to choose an appropriate course of further action for selection including the search-cum-selection committee (SCSC).
Mrs Anupam Ban proves her mettle in male dominated management
Mrs Anupam Ban is proving her mettle in the preponderance of male dominated management. She is one of the 27 women Board members out of 700 Board Members in Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). Mrs Ban, who is an officer of Indian Railway Personnel Service (IRPS), has dealt with Human Resource of India Railway. Presently, she is serving as Director (Personnel), Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL). She holds Bachelor degree in Arts and Master of Business Administration (Human Resource) from University of Lucknow. She has 28 years’ experience of handling personnel issues in Railways including 12 years in infrastructure Public Sector Undertaking, worked as head of Personnel Department in Rajkot and Jaipur Division of Western Railway and North Western Railway. She joined Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) in 2019 as Executive Director /Human Resource.
Harish Duhan takes over as CMD, SECL
Harish Duhan has officially taken charge as the Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) on March 26, 2025. On his arrival at SECL Headquarters on March 27, 2025, he was accorded a Guard of by the SECL Security Contingent. He was warmly welcomed by the Functional Directors, Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO), and Heads of Departments (HoDs) of SECL. Prior to his appointment as CMD of SECL, Duhan served as Director Technical (Operations) at Central Coalfields Limited. The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB), Government of India, had recommended his name for the top post at SECL on December 7, 2024. Duhan brings with him a wealth of experience spanning over 34 years in the mining sector. His expertise includes implementing First Mile Connectivity (FMC) projects, driving digitization initiatives, and overseeing the development of solar projects in Coal India Limited. An alumnus of Nagpur University, Duhan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering. He joined Coal India Limited in 1989 from Western Coalfields and has since held several key positions, including Area General Manager of the Nigahi Project and General Manager of Corporate Project Planning at Northern Coalfields Limited, a subsidiary of Coal India Limited. He also holds a First Class Mine Manager Certificate and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management. With his vast industry knowledge and strategic vision, Duhan is expected to steer SECL towards greater achievements in coal production, technological advancements, and sustainable development initiatives.
