Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Addiction to social media can have many adverse effects on people. A strange case where wife’s addiction to social media nearly led to her permanent separation from her husband came up for hearing during the National Lok Adalat that was held on Saturday. Thankfully the matter was resolved amicably through counselling at the family court and the couple went away to their home happy and satisfied.
Vinay Kumar (26) and Manju (22 years) (both names changed) were married on May 25, 2023 and have an 18-month-old son. They were living separately for 17 months. The woman had filed a case against her husband under the Hindu Marriage Act in the family court. Vinay told the court that after marriage, the wife started spending a lot of time on social media leading to problems in family and household work.
This resulted in frequent disputes over small things. A few months after the birth of their son, the wife started living separately. This matter was kept in Lok Adalat and both parties were counselled of both the parties was done in the case. Judge Rakesh Kumar Jain explained to them to live together in view of the future of the newborn child. After this, both realised their mistake and agreed to live together.
Counselling helps couple come together again
Similarly, a 32-year-old youth from Indore and a 28-year-old woman from Raebareli were married in 2018. Both have a 6-year-old son and a 3-year-old daughter. Due to a lack of coordination after marriage, disputes started taking place. The youth sought help from the in-laws but they did not give any advice to the daughter. After this, in 2023, the youth filed a case for divorce in Family Court. Counselling of both husband and wife was done. The judge advised them to let bygones be bygones and live together. When they realised their mistake, both agreed to live together.
Differences come to an end
In another case, in 2022, a woman filed a maintenance case against her husband in the Family Court. The court was told that after a dispute, the husband threw her out of the house and never again asked her to return. In Lok Adalat, both husband and wife appeared before the judge and ended their differences. The judge advised both of them to look after the future of their son. After this, both have agreed to live together.
