Some incidents in life leave you immense pain and scars but only a few can turn it into art. Gaurav Gupta presented his Spring 2025 Couture collection, Across the Fire, at Paris Fashion Week 2025. More than just a fashion show, the collection tells a deeply personal and emotional story of love, trauma, and survival, inspired by the life-changing fire accident he and his wife endured. Gaurav managed to depict a harrowing incident through this show and it turned out to be magical.
For this powerful collection, the designer found inspiration in his wife and poet, Navkirat Sodhi. Not only did she become his muse, but she also took center stage by opening the show. Dressed in a cream-colored draped corset gown, Navkirat walked the ramp with grace, her scars on full display-a testament to her journey of survival.
Life-changing accident that affect Gaurav Gupta & Navkirat’s life
“One of the most life-changing experiences happened with us about 8 months ago. We were in a fire accident, literally from a candle,” Gaurav shared in a heartfelt video on his official page. He revealed that while trying to douse the flames with his hands, he suffered burns on one of them. His wife, however, bore the brunt of the fire, with 55% of her body burned.
Navkirat spent 2.5 months in the ICU, where doctors gave her only a 50% chance of survival. Despite the odds, she fought through. “She is a fighter and survivor…she is a goddess,” Gaurav said, honoring her strength.
