Virat Kohli broke silence on T20 international retirement: Star batsman Virat Kohli announced his retirement from T20 international cricket after the 2024 T20 World Cup. Now 10 months after retirement, Virat Kohli has broken his silence on his retirement from T20 International cricket.

Why did Virat Kohli retire from T20 cricket?

Kohli said, “I wanted to give new players two years to mature keeping in mind the 2026 T20 World Cup.” Kohli said in RCB Podcast, “I don’t think the situation for me has changed in any way.” The decision to stay out of T20 international matches was completely taken with an understanding that the new group of players is fully prepared and needed time. It takes two years for new players to adjust, deal with pressure and play in different parts of the world. So that when the World Cup comes, they feel that they are ready.

Virat Kohli has played 125 T20 international matches for India. During this, he scored 4188 runs at an average of 48.69. Virat Kohli is performing brilliantly for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL 2025. Kohli has scored 443 runs in 10 matches at an average of 63.28.
