CM Rekha Gupta of Delhi: He has been ruled out of politics after the three -time Chief Minister of Delhi and Aam Aadmi Party national president Arvind Kejriwal, who has not been given the Chief Minister’s post to Pravesh Verma of BJP, who had a crushing defeat in the election. Pravesh Verma was at the forefront of the Delhi Chief Minister after the BJP’s huge victory in the assembly elections. But as usual, this time the BJP has made a leader who was not discussed much. Everyone is curious to know where the entry Verma made a mistake in the selection of CM.
Kejriwal’s dominance is over.
Pravesh Verma, son of former Delhi Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma, has abolished the dominance of Delhi Chief Minister for the last three terms by 4568 votes. Since then, his name for the post of CM of Delhi was being discussed. But like other states, BJP has shocked Delhi by giving Rekha Gupta a CM’s chair. It is noteworthy that after this announcement, the high command held a separate meeting with senior Delhi BJP leaders Vijendra Gupta, Satish Upadhyay and Pravesh Verma.
Mims are becoming viral on social media
According to media reports, Pravesh Verma can be made Deputy Chief Minister in the new government. Or he can hand over an important cabinet portfolio. Pravesh Verma started trending on social media platforms after making the first MLA from BJP to be the Chief Minister. Users made their respective memes and commented.
Major reason for not handing over the chair to Pravesh Verma
Political analysts are saying that the biggest reason for not handing over the CM’s chair to Pravesh Verma is his disputed image. The BJP often faces many difficulties due to its controversies. Pravesh Verma spoke of boycott of a particular community at the VHP program held in Delhi in October 2022. They often give controversial statements. Due to which the BJP decided to hand over the CM’s chair to Rekha Gupta in place of Pravesh Verma.
Lok Sabha ticket can also be canceled
Parvesh Verma was a Lok Sabha MP from Mehrauli in Delhi in 2022. At that time Pravesh Verma gave a statement for a community, saying, “I say if he has to bring his mind to the right place, if he has to straighten it, it has only one treatment, and that is complete boycott.” His statement created a huge uproar. The party also expressed displeasure. Due to which his ticket was cut from Mehrauli in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Drain-nepotism is also a reason
Pravesh Verma’s father Sahib Singh Verma was the Chief Minister of Delhi from 1996 to 1998. In such a situation, the BJP, which strongly opposed nepotism, did not even gave him the Chief Minister’s post to avoid criticism of the opposition. The BJP usually does not bet on the sons and daughters of former Chief Ministers. In Himachal Pradesh too, Anurag Thakur, son of Prem Kumar Dhumal, was sidelined for the post of Chief Minister. Jairam Thakur was made the Chief Minister in his place.
Caste also has influence.
Another strategy of BJP is that it does not make the leader of the most impact and dominated caste in the state the Chief Minister. He also adopted the same strategy in Haryana, Maharashtra and Jharkhand. Despite the excess of Jats in Haryana, the BJP has not made any Jat Chief Minister there for the last 11 years. Even in Maharashtra, despite the dominance of the Marathas, Brahmin Devendra Fadnavis of Vidarbha was made the Chief Minister of the state.
Women Chief Minister needs
For some time, BJP has been seeing women as a new vote bank apart from caste. The BJP may have chosen Rekha Gupta to maintain its association with women and reduce the influence of former Chief Minister Atishi.
