Bollywood actor Aamir Khan is known for his dedication to mastering new skills. And, as he approaches his 60th birthday, the actor revealed a surprising new passion—Indian classical singing.

At a pre-birthday media interaction in Mumbai on March 13, Aamir shared that he has been learning classical singing for the past two years. To everyone’s delight, he even sang a few lines from his 1995 film Akele Hum Akele Tum.

Speaking about his new artistic hobby, Aamir expressed his deep love for singing and introduced his guru, Sucheta Bhattacharjee. He shared, “I am learning new things every year, I have been learning Indian classical singing… I love singing. My guru is Sucheta Bhattacharjee, I am enjoying a lot.”

Who is Sucheta Bhattacharjee?

Sucheta Bhattacharjee is a renowned Indian classical singer, collaborative artist, and one of India’s leading voice trainers. According to her website, she considers her musical journey an eternal pursuit, filled with inspiration, challenges, and artistic bliss. Introduced to music at a young age by her mother, Sucheta has grown into a distinguished musician with several acclaimed music albums, performances across India, and a vast student base.

Her expertise extends beyond performance; she has trained numerous young talents who have excelled in reality shows like Zee Little Champs, Star Voice of India, Zee SaReGaMaPa, and Sur Kshetra. Her role as a mentor has shaped the careers of many aspiring musicians.

As an educator, Sucheta founded the Centre of Excellence in Indian & Western Music in Shillong and Tura in collaboration with the Government of Meghalaya. She played a pivotal role in developing the musical landscape of Northeast India, offering a structured platform for budding artists.

She also served as the founding Dean of the esteemed SaReGaMaPaDhaNiSa Academy in Mumbai, which has nurtured several successful musicians.

The singer is widely regarded as one of the best music teachers in India, with hundreds of students respecting her as a guiding force in their musical journeys, including Aamir Khan himself.
