Devotional singer Kanhiya Mittal recently performed at the swearing-in ceremony of Maharashtra’s CM-designate Devendra Fadnavis on December 5 at Azad Maidan, Mumbai. Known for his soulful bhajans, Kanhiya has touched the hearts of millions with his devotion-filled songs, especially dedicated to Khatu Shyam Ji.
Who Is Kanhiya Mittal?
Kanhiya was born on September 21, 1990, in Chandigarh; however, his family roots trace back to Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan. Reportedly, he is one of India’s youngest and most popular devotional singers. His journey as a devotional singer began at the young age of 12 when he discovered his passion for singing and preaching. Throughout his career, Kanhiya has devoted himself to creating music that inspires faith and spirituality.
His first major breakthrough came with the song “Haara Hu Baba Par Tujhpe Bharosa Hai,” which became immensely popular and marked the turning point of his career. Encouraged by the success of this track, he went on to compose and sing many more devotional songs, including “Jo Ram Ko Laye Hain” and “Jeetu Ka Ik Din.”
Despite coming from a family where his father, a businessman, was an atheist, Kanhiya’s dedicated faith in God paved the way for his success. His singing talent has earned him recognition from notable figures like Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Ministers Pushkar Singh Dhami of Uttarakhand and Yogi Adityanath of Uttar Pradesh.
In addition to his singing career, Kanhiya has received several honours. He was the 2023 Swachh Survekshan Brand Ambassador for the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation and was awarded the “Divya Samman” in 2020 for his outstanding contributions to devotional music.
