Even as the row which oled to resignation of Maharaashtra Minister Dhananjay Munde has not settled down, another minister of the Mahayuti governmnet is in trouble. For the uninititaed, opposition parties in Maharashtra on Wednesday demanded the resignation of BJP minister Jaykumar Gore over allegations of harassing a woman and sending objectionable photos to her.

Jaykumar Gore has, however, denied these charged and asserted that he was already acquitted by the court. Meanwhile, he aalso has moves privilege motion against Sanjay Raut, Rohit Pawar over woman harassment allegations.

“In 2017, the legislative council elections took place, followed by the municipal elections. Just two days before the municipal elections, a case was registered against me. The trial was conducted, and in 2019, the verdict was given. I have a copy of that verdict with me, in which the court acquitted me. The court had also ordered the destruction of the seized evidence, including the mobile phone. Despite my acquittal, the opposition is now digging up a six-year-old case.” he said.

Who Is Jaykumar Gore?

Gore is the Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj. He is the MLA for the Man assembly constituency in the Satara district of western Maharashtra. Prior to joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2019, Gore was a member of the Congress.

He was detained in January 2017 after sending a woman in Satara offensive texts and his own offensive images.

Because of the accusations, Gore was singled out by opposition parties, who demanded his resignation.

Allegations by Sanjay Raut

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut claimed, “A very serious issue of Jaykumar Gore has come to the fore. What happened in Swargate (incident of rape inside a bus in Pune), a similar case has come to the fore with regards to Devendra Fadnavis’s dear minister Jaykumar Gore.”

“A woman from Maratha general Hambirrao Mohite’s family has sexually harassed her. The woman will sit on a fast outside the Vidhan Bhavan premises,” he added.

Hambirrao Mohite was the chief commander of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s army.

“The details about Gore are shocking and bringing a bad name to the state…Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis should check the credentials of his ministers,” Raut said.

‘Saamana’, the mouthpiece of the Uddhav Thackeray-led party, also published a news item claiming that Gore sent objectionable photos to the woman.
