Mumbai’s famed artist, Vinita Sadarangani, invites art enthusiasts to immerse themselves in the mesmerising world of “Whispers of the Wilderness,” her latest art exhibition at the FPH Gallery. Known for her distinctive fusion of abstraction and natural elements, Vinita’s work transcends traditional realism, creating “abscapes”—abstract landscapes that explore the deeper essence of nature.
Each painting in the collection is a testament to her ability to reimagine the natural world. Trees, recurring motifs and nature themes, combined with her mastery of light and shadow, turn her canvases into a dreamy masterpiece that leaves art enthusiasts inspired.

The artist’s vision
Sharing her artistic journey, Vinita reveals, “This is my story…This is the story of how a moment of quiet inspiration blossomed into a journey of artistic expression, where dreams, nature, and divinity intertwine on the canvas.” Reflecting on her childhood love for painting, she adds, “Although I rarely indulged in creating my own, whenever I did, my modest attempts felt like masterpieces to me. The act of painting was like capturing a fragment of my soul and translating it onto the canvas.”
Her connection to nature serves as her primary muse. “The inspiration behind my art is, without a doubt, nature. It’s where I find my greatest joy and peace,” she explains. “When I paint, I’m not just capturing what I see—I’m translating the emotions, the serenity, and the connection I feel onto the canvas. It’s my way of inviting others into this world of calm and beauty.”

Among her numerous creations, including “Loves Blossom,” “Whimsical,” and “The Wait,” one holds a special place in her heart: “The Angelic Snow Forest.”
“It captures the peaceful beauty of a snow-covered forest, untouched and serene,” she shares. “While painting it, I imagined a divine presence bringing the scene to life, and that feeling stayed with me throughout the process.” This piece, loved for its calming energy, offers viewers not just a visual treat but an immersive experience of peace and serenity.

Play of colours
Vinita’s choice of colours and techniques further sets her work apart. She describes her process as instinctive and organic. “I don’t follow a strict plan or process. I usually just pick up a few colours instinctively and begin mixing them,” she explains. “It’s almost as if the colours choose me, and I simply let them guide the flow of the artwork. A soothing palette naturally comes together, often with a minimalistic feel.”
Her ability to connect with her audience through her art is what drives her. “The most rewarding moment for me is when I see someone smile while looking at my work. In that moment, I know they’ve felt the same connection to nature that I felt while creating it.”
