Mahakumbh 2025, Female Naga Sadhu: It has started from today i.e. 13th January in Sangam city Prayagraj of Uttar Pradesh. Mahakumbh will run from 13 January to 26 February. In the month-long Mahakumbh, 40 crore devotees are likely to take a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam of Ganga-Yamuna and Saraswati. A large number of sages and saints have come here from far and wide to take bath in the Sangam during Mahakumbh.
Sages and saints have great importance in Sanatan Dharma. However, the Naga Sadhus who come to Kumbh are the biggest attraction for the people. It is not possible to imagine Kumbh without Naga Sadhus. The dress and food habits of Naga Sadhus are completely different from that of common people. Along with men, there are also female Naga Sadhus. Female Naga Sadhus also dedicate their lives completely to God.

The day of female Naga Sadhus, who stay away from household life, begins and ends with worship. His life is full of many difficulties. Naga Sadhus have no concern with the world and whatever they say is unique.
Who becomes a Naga Sadhu?
After a woman becomes a Naga Sadhu, all the sages and sages call her mother. Mai Bada includes female Naga Sadhus, which after expansion has now been named Dashnam Sanyasini Akhara. Naga is a title among sages and saints. Among the monks there are Vaishnava, Shaiva and Udasi sects. Naga Sadhus form the Akharas of these three sects.
How do women become Naga Sadhus?
Male Naga Sadhus can remain naked, but female Naga Sadhus are not allowed to do so. Male Naga sadhus are clothed and Digambara (naked). Women are also initiated and made Naga Sadhus, but all have to wear clothes. Female Naga Sadhus are required to apply Tilak on their forehead. But he can wear only a saffron cloth, which is not stitched anywhere. This garment is called Ganti.

Before becoming a Naga a person has to get tonsured

Apart from this, whether one can do difficult sadhana after becoming a Naga Sadhu or not. Before becoming a Naga Sadhu, a woman has to undergo purification and tonsure while still alive.
Women get full respect in the arena
After this the woman is bathed in the river. Female Naga Sadhus chant the name of God throughout the day and wake up in the morning at Brahmamuhurta and burn themselves in the name of Lord Shiva. Lord Dattatreya is worshiped in the evening. After lunch he chants the name of Lord Shiva. Women Naga Sadhus are given full respect in the Akhara.
During the Kumbh Mela, along with Naga sadhus, female sadhus also take the royal bath. However, men take bath in the river after Naga Sadhu bath. The female Naga Sadhus of the Akhara are called Mai, Avadhutani or Naagin. But neither Mai nor Naagin is selected for any important post in the Akhara.
