Pop icon Katy Perry, known for singing tracks like Roar, Dark Horse and Harleys In Hawaii, among others, is set to jett off to space on Monday for an all-female flight, from Texas, as part of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ space venture, Blue Origin’s New Shepard NS-31 mission, which will be lasting about 11 minutes.
This marks the first all-women space crew since Soviet cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova’s historic solo flight in 1963, when she orbited Earth 48 times as part of the Vostok 6 mission that lasted for more than 70 hours.
Katy revealed on her social media that she has dreamt of going to space for 15 years, and now that dream is finally becoming a reality. She added, “I think I’m gonna sing, I’ve got to sing in space!”
“I’m flying for my daughter, Daisy, to inspire her to never have limits on her dreams and show her that any type of person can reach their dreams—no matter your background, your ethnicity, your economic situation, or your education level,” she told Elle USA.
