About Narasimha Jayanti
This year, Narasimha Jayanti will be observed on Sunday, May 11, 2025. The day marks the form of Lord Vishnu, who emerged to destroy the demon king Hiranyakashipu. In Hindu mythology, Hiranyakashipu was a demon king known for his arrogance and his pursuit of immortality. After Hiranyakashipu’s brother’s death, he performed penance to Brahma, seeking invulnerability.
After receiving the wish for immortality, he became extremely arrogant and powerful. He compelled everyone to worship him as the supreme god. This arrogance led Lord Vishnu to take the form of a half-man, half-lion in order to defeat Hiranyakashipu.
