Whatsapp is preparing to bring a new and interesting feature for its users. After this update, users will be able to add social media links to their WhatsApp profile.

Meaning now you can show your Instagram, Facebook or other social media profiles on direct Whatsapp profiles!

Why is the new feature special?

There will be an option to add Instagram and Facebook links to the WhatsApp profile.
This feature is currently being tested in the beta version of iOS.
The final version is expected to rollout the next few weeks.

How will social media links be connected in WhatsApp profile?

The new “social media link” section will be added to WhatsApp profile settings.
The beta version currently has an option to add Instagram link.
Links of Meta apps like Facebook and Threads can also be added to the update.
It is not yet clear whether Whatsapp will allow to add links to other third-party apps.

The new feature will be optional!
If a user does not want to add social media links, he will not need it.
Privacy settings will be given for those who enable this feature.

How will the new profile section look in Whatsapp?

Your social media link will be seen in the “About” section with name and phone number.
For those who turn on this option, the same privacy settings will be applied for the profile picture.
Business accounts already get this facility, but after the new update, personal account users will also be able to take advantage of it.

Will this feature be completely secure?

Whatsapp already allows business accounts to add social media links, but it requires authentication.
Currently, there is no need for authentication for regular users in the beta version.
But WhatsApp can add authentication process to increase security in the final version so that no one can misuse this feature.

There is a possibility that authentication for new accounts may make authentication mandatory to protect from WhatsApp spam and fraud.
