The Indian team is on Australia tour these days. During the Border Gavaskar Trophy, a 5-match Test series will be played between the two teams. In this series, the eyes of the fans as well as the selectors are fixed on the two most senior players of Team India, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. The BCCI has asked chief selector Ajit Agarkar to remain in Australia for the entire duration of the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Agarkar’s stay in Australia is to discuss the roadmap for the coming years with current Indian cricket team head coach Gautam Gambhir.

There will be discussion on the future of Rohit-Virat

Team India’s performance in the three-match home Test series against New Zealand was poor. Especially the team management and fans were very disappointed with the performance of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. In this series, Rohit scored only 90 runs and Kohli scored only 93 runs. After which this could be the last chance for these senior players in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. One reason for losing the series against New Zealand was the poor performance of the senior players of the Indian team. in the next 8-9 months

There will be discussion between Gambhir and Agarkar

A BCCI source said, “Both Agarkar and Gambhir know that such a poor performance in India will be widely criticized, which is fair. Since it is a long tour, both can sit together and discuss how to move forward after the tour. It will take at least one and a half years for these two to form a strong backup team. Therefore both have to agree on the process.

Gambhir and Agarkar want to talk to him about his future. These players will no longer play T20 International cricket for India, but the board also wants to know the interest of these players in the ODI World Cup to be held in the year 2027.
