With deadlock yet to be broken over India visiting Pakistan to take part in Champions Trophy, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has decided to find a common ground by using a ‘Partnership Formula’ between both the countries as per a report by Geo News. BCCI had refused to send the Indian cricket team to Pakistan for the showpiece event due to political tensions between both countries, while PCB adopted a strong stance on stating that they won’t agree to the hybrid model.
What Is Partnership Formula? How ill it work for India and Pakistan
As per the report, the new formula will see India play all their ICC matches, supposed to be played in Pakistan, in Dubai and Pakistan will also play their matches, scheduled to be played in India, in Dubai.
The formula will be applicable for the next three years from the Champions Trophy 2025, they said, adding that it was expected to put the issue of CT’s scheduling and venue to rest.
As per the Geo News source, the ICC has reportedly advised the BCCI to accept the formula, which would protect the board from legal proceedings from Pakistan.
“The cricket governing body is trying its best to resolve the matter without voting, which could take place if the PCB, ICC and BCCI do not reach a consensus,”
PCB agrees Kybrid model under certain conditions
The Pakistan Cricket Board has agreed to host the Champions Trophy in Hybrid model but only on certain conditions. The world body eventually told PCB to either accept the hybrid model or be prepared to be excluded from the tournament after Naqvi reiterated the unyielding position of his country.
According to PTI report, PCB source said the Board is also demanding a greater share in the annual revenue cycle for agreeing to the model under which India would be playing its share of matches, including the clash against Pakistan, in Dubai.
