Western Railway has bagged three National Efficiency Performance Shields. WR is the sole winner of the prestigious National Shield for outstanding performance in the fields of Level Crossing and Road Over/Under Bridge Safety Works and Non Fare Revenue (NFR) Shield while the Civil Engineering Shield has been awarded jointly to Western Railway along with South Central and Southern Railway.
This year 69th National Railway Week Central Function (AVRSP 2024) will be held on December 21, 2024, at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
These coveted Shields will be presented by Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Railways, Information & Broadcasting and Electronics & Information Technology to General Manager along with the concerned Principal Head of Department (PHOD).According to Vineet Abhishek, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, every year Indian Railways felicitates its employees who have excelled and have shown exemplary, outstanding, meritorious and commendable performance in various categories.
These officers/staff are chosen from millions of railway employees across Indian Railways. The Indian Railways has decided to award 101 employees and officers with the Ati Vishisht Rail Seva Puraskar (AVRSP). The selected employees and officers will be felicitated by Minister of Railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw at the 69th Railway Week Central Function. Vineet further added that this year Western Railway’s eight officers/staff will be receiving the coveted ‘Ati Vishisht Rail Seva Puraskar’ for their meritorious performance during the year 2023-24.
Amongst these are Dr. Shishir Kumar Roul – Additional Chief Health Director; Vijay Kumar – Sr. Travelling Inspector of Station, Manju Meena – Sr. Divisional Commercial Manager; Nalin Lochan Gupta – Sr. Divisional Electrical Engineer/TRD; Shuchita Arora – Divisional Electrical Engineer/TRS; Shyam Sundar Sharma – Divisional Signal & Telecommunication Engineer/C; Prashant Singh – Dy. Chief Engineer; and Narendr Kumar – Sr. Divisional Operations Manager. The railway employees and officers have been selected for the award in various categories such as
a) Outstanding efforts in innovations/processes/procedures leading to economies in expenditure, improvement in productivity, import substitution etc.
b) Meritorious acts even with disregard to personal safety leading to protection of life and property on Railways
c) Significant contributions to increasing Railway revenue and preventing ticketless travel and revenue theft
d) Exceptional contributions to Rail operations, safety, security, and the enhanced protection of Railway assets
e) Completing various projects in record time
f) Outstanding performance in field of sports, leading to national/international recognition.
