Kolkata: The West Bengal government on Saturday had opened a control room for assisting pilgrims from the state visiting Maha Kumbh.

According to the media statement issued by the state secretariat Nabanna, “Many pilgrims are going from the State of West Bengal to attend the Mahakumbha 2025 at Prayagraj. For their assistance and to cater to any emergencies, the Department of Disaster Management and Civil Defence, Government of West Bengal has operationalized a 24*7 control room with the following helpline nos – 0332214-3526, 1070 (toll free).”

Notably, so far five residents of West Bengal have lost their lives in the stampede during the holy dip on January 29 and several residents are missing since then at Maha Kumbh.

After the family members of deceased people complained that they were denied death certificates by the UP government, Trinamool Congress (TMC) minister Aroop Biswas said that the needful will be done by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
