Kolkata: After meeting with 13 sacked teaching and non-teaching staff at Bikash Bhawan on Friday, state education minister Bratya Basu said that after consulting with the lawyers they will try to publish the OMR sheets by next one and a half weeks.

“We are taking legal advice and will try to publish the OMR sheets so that the segregation can be done between the eligible and tainted candidates,” said Basu.

Asked about the indefinite hunger strike of the protestors to which Basu said that the delegation who met them had clearly stated that they are not on hunger strike.

“Those who are sitting for the hunger strike are doing it by being politically motivated. I have nothing against them,” further added the state education minister. The sacked teacher Chinmoy Mondal said that after the meeting they were ‘partly’ satisfied.

“We had discussions in two intervals and we were partly satisfied. We have requested for the publishing of mirror images and also for OMR sheets of all the candidates who had appeared for the examination in 2016 to which the state education minister and SSC chairman said that they will do the needful after taking legal advice,” said Mondal.

However, a section of the city was thrown out of gear as several protestors agitated outside the SSC building and many people refused to leave the place till their demands were met.

Meanwhile, Joint Commissioner of Police Rupesh Kumar mentioned that the police had to resort to lathicharge on sacked teachers when they went to DI office at Kasba as a part of ‘self defense’.

“There were several outsiders along with the teachers. The police initially asked the crowd to be patient but the crowd was violent from the beginning and we have footage that they were breaking the locks and broke open various police barricades,” said Kumar.

Nullifying the statement of the Joint CP, one sacked teacher Sujoy Sardar said that there were no outsiders with them.

On the other hand, former Justice of Calcutta High Court and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Abhijit Gangopadhyay visited the SSC building to meet the protestors where he was given the ‘Go back’ slogan.
