Kolkata: Following a cabinet meeting, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday had announced ex-gratia of Group C and Group D teaching and non-teaching staff who lost their jobs due to a verdict of the Supreme Court for SSC scam.
“Unless the review petition is being heard and further orders are received, the state government has decided to stand by the side of those who have lost their jobs. Their families are in distress. We have decided to give Rs 25,000 and Rs 20,000 to the jobless Group C and Group D employees from April 1, respectively, out of a newly launched West Bengal Livelihood and Social Security Scheme under the state labour department,” said Mamata.
Addressing a press conference from the state secretariat Nabanna, the Chief Minister had also stated that there is a strong demand for industrialization in the state and had also announced the government’s future plans.
“We have decided to build an International Information Technology Entertainment and Cultural park (IITEC) at New Town over 25 acres of land in PPP model with Hidco. In 23 districts we will build big markets. We will give lands for free to the self help group and the building will be built by private companies. Out of 23, 11 districts have been given clearance. The International Convention Center has been done in Digha and will be done in Siliguri too,” further added Mamata.
“We express solidarity with our soldiers and congratulate them. Our party is organising a rally on May 17 and May 18 to express solidarity with our jawans and offer condolences for the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation. This rally will be held across the state,” further mentioned the West Bengal Chief Minister.
