Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday said that she cannot accept the Supreme Court Judgement on SSC and calls it to be a conspiracy by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the CPI (M) to collapse the education system of West Bengal.

“I have the highest regard for the judiciary but cannot accept the judgement. If the court had instructed that the fresh recruitment process should get completed in three months it will be done. The government cannot say anything to SSC as it is an autonomous body,” said Mamata.

Referring to Madhya Pradesh’s Vyapam scam, Mamata questioned whether BJP intends to collapse the education system of West Bengal?

“I am born in Bengal and I know the intent of the BJP and the Central government. In the Vyapam scam many people got killed but how many BJP leaders were arrested? Our former education minister is in jail and we didn’t say anything. Our government is humanitarian and we will meet those who have lost their jobs on April 7 at Netaji Indoor Stadium and ask them not to lose hopes,” further mentioned the West Bengal Chief Minister.

Without naming anyone, Mamata also slammed former Justice of Calcutta High Court and present BJP MP Abhijit Gangopadhyay for earlier giving the verdict of cancelling the SSC panel of 2016. She even sarcastically slammed CPI(M) Rajya Sabha MP and lawyer Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya.

Notably, upholding the verdict of Calcutta High Court, a division bench of CJI Sanjiv Khanna and Justice Sanjay Kumar stated that the entire selection process was ‘vitiated and tainted due to large-scale and pervasive manipulations and subsequent cover-ups’.

Mamata also questioned why the present CJI upheld the verdict of the High Court when the former CJI stayed the verdict given by former Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay.

On the other hand, the opposition slammed Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and accused her of ‘illegal recruitment’.

Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari mentioned that the entire cabinet of Mamata Banerjee government should go to jail.

“For Mamata Banerjee several innocent and genuine candidates came on the road. We demand her immediate resignation. We will protest over this incident. She said that she cannot accept the verdict and it is directly contempt of court,” said Suvendu.

CPI (M) Rajya Sabha MP Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya said that it was difficult to segregate genuine and tainted ones.

Former Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury stated that all those who have lost their jobs should get accommodated as there are lots of vacancies.

Meanwhile, almost 26000 people who lost their jobs were seen crying on the road. Several people who have lost their jobs had gathered near Shahid Minar in Kolkata.

A candidate mentioned how he can achieve the same marks that he got 10 years back. “I have a son and his education is important and moreover age is also a factor for us. This cannot be accepted,” said the candidate.

Another woman candidate said that for some corrupt practices even the genuine candidates lost their jobs and came on the road.
