A week-long celebration and festivity is lined up ahead of the much awaited inauguration of the Sri Sri Radha Madanmohanji temple, a mega project of ISKCON International Society for Krishna Consciousness, at Kharghar.
The temple spread over 9 acres of land and the brainchild of Dr Sura das, President and temple trustee is to be inaugurated by the Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi on January 15. The project titled as the Glory of Maharashtra is a Vedic educational and cultural centre that is stated to teach the Sanathan way of living.
About The Event
To mark the auspiciousness of the occasion, the temple body has decided to host – The glory of Maharashtra Festival from January 9 onwards.
The festivity will conclude with the laying of the cornerstone for the future project – construction of the cultural centre and Vedic museum- foreseen as a means to present and preserve the rich and vast spiritual heritage of the country.
The temple constructed at the cost of over 170 crores is set to be used in an era of spiritual consciousness along with the will to be engaged in community services in the city.
” The temple inauguration is happening after a wait of 12 years and its breathtaking architecture nestled amidst serene surroundings is going to bring about a cultural awakening towards Krishna consciousness,” said the trustee.
With regards to the amenities provided, the temple premises comprise |Srila Prabhupada Memorial, 100 guest rooms with international level conference rooms. Ashrams catering to Brahmacharis, Sanyasis, Women etc, Bhaktivedanta classes that impart education on Vedas, Ayurvedic healing centre with trained professionals, a fully equipped gym and yoga room, Organic Farm Go Nanda Gram, makes the temple an all en-compassing centre for devotees.
“The vision was to construct a one of its kind temple and as expected over the years has gained a huge following. In fact when the first time Janmashtami was celebrated from a rented space there were around 300 devotees whereas now at the temple complex the festival attracts almost 5 lakhs devotees. From acquiring a barren paddy field from CIDCO the journey to construct a makeshift temple and then magnanimous structure surrounded by greenery and the best of services that is intended to bring about spiritual awakening has been filled with a lot of challenges and hurdles,” reminisced the trustee.
The events scheduled for the week-long festivity are – Lord Jagannath Dance Drama on January 9 and 10 at 8 pm to 11 pm. The following day a Bhajan Concert by Anooj Jalota. On January 12 Folk singer Geeta Rabri is set to perform kirtans. MP and Bollywood actress Hema Malini is set to perform on January 13 and on January 14, Bollywood playback singer Anuradha Podwal will take over the stage.
On the day of inauguration, traditional folk dance of Orissa – Gotipua and Bhajan concert by noted classical singer Vidushi Sawani Shende is to be held from 7.30 pm onwards.
The first darshan for the public will be available at 4.30 am on Thursday, January 16
