As soon as the beginning of April, the weather has suddenly turned across the country. While strong sunlight and rising heat in North India is disturbing, there is a danger of rain and stormy winds in south and eastern states. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning on strong thunderstorms, thunderstorms and rain in many parts of the country till 4 April.
Cyclonic circulation became the reason, IMD’s big update
According to the IMD, the weather is changing rapidly due to active cyclonic circulation in different parts of the country. From 31 March to 4 April, many states will have strong winds at a speed of 30 to 60 km/h, with thunderstorms and lightning.
There will be strong rains and thunderstorms in these states
- Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Telangana, coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe, Konkan, Goa and Central Maharashtra: Rain with strong winds and thunder till 4 April
- Gujarat: Possibility of lightning with strong winds on 1 and 2 April
- Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Marathwada, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Internal Karnataka: strong winds and possible rains
West Bengal, Jharkhand and Rayalaseema also on alert
IMD reported that there may be roar and rain in many areas of West Bengal, Jharkhand and Rayalaseema between April 2 to 4. At the same time, there is a possibility of moderate rains and strong winds of 40-50 km/h in Mysore, Hassan, Shivamoga, Chikmagalore and Chamarajanagar in South Karnataka.
Heavy rains and hailstorms are also possible in Kodagu, Haasan and Chikmagaluru on 3 April.
Weather is changing in Northeast India too
The effect of Western Jet Stream has started appearing in Northeast India. On April 2:
- Light to moderate rains in southern Assam, Northeast Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura
- Possibility of strong winds of 40-50 km/h and also thunder-glowing
Some areas may also receive more rainfall, which can lead to local waterlogging conditions.
Partial relief in Rajasthan, light rain is possible
Rajasthan was likely to be cloudy on 1 April, and light rain was also seen in some parts. This is expected to provide some relief from the heat. However, hot winds in the day can still bother.

- Take care while traveling with small vehicles, strong winds can cause imbalance.
- Use of mobile phones in the open area and stand under trees, there is a risk of lightning.
