Maximum temperatures in most parts of the country in May are likely to be higher than normal. According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature is expected to be lower than normal in the remaining parts of the country except most parts of South Peninsular India and parts of Northeast India during the month of May.

 

In May, the minimum temperature across the country is expected to be higher than normal. In May, more warm waves are likely to run in the Ganges’ plains, northwest and most parts of central India during the day. The number of heat in Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Gujarat, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and adjacent to it is expected to be higher than normal in Telangana and parts of North Karnataka.

Average rainfall across the country is expected to exceed normal (long -term average/more than 109% of LPA). Most parts of the country are expected to receive more than normal rainfall, which will have some effect on the heat. Except for North-West India, Central India, North-East India and parts of East-Central India, the remaining areas are expected to receive less than normal rainfall. IMD Director General Mrityunjay Mahapatra said that in Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal, the number of heat stroke in the banks of Ganga is likely to be one to four days more than normal. Some areas of Gujarat, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, nearby Telangana and Northern Karnataka are likely to blow more hot winds than normal.

Usually, there is a warm wave in various parts of the country for one to three days except southwest peninsular India. Mahapatra said that except for some areas of northwest, central and northeast India, most parts of the country are likely to receive more than normal rainfall.
