India Weather Forecast: New Year 2023 has started and people are immersed in the celebration. Meanwhile, it is getting cold in many parts of the country. There is a possibility of frost in many states of North India from Sunday (January 1, 2023). Due to the continuous fall in the temperature, the difficulties of the people are gradually increasing. There is a possibility of further drop in the temperature in the coming days in North India.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), dense fog is expected to prevail in Delhi and its surrounding areas till January 5.
How will be the weather in Delhi-NCR?
The temperature in the capital Delhi and surrounding areas has dropped by 5-6 degree Celsius. Delhiites have definitely got some relief from the strong wind, but the cold has increased. There is a possibility that the cold will increase further from Sunday i.e. January 1. Cold wave is expected to prevail in Delhi from January 3 to 6. According to the Meteorological Department, there may be dense fog during this period. The minimum temperature in Delhi is expected to be 5 degree Celsius and the maximum temperature will be 19 degree Celsius on Sunday. Apart from this, the level of pollution in Delhi’s air is still in an alarming condition.
Trouble will increase due to fog and cold wave
Cold wave is likely to start again in North West India after January 1. Dense fog is likely to continue till January 5 in neighboring states like Punjab and Haryana. Along with this, further drop in temperature can be recorded. There is severe winter in UP’s capital Lucknow and Jaipur. Dense fog has enveloped some parts of Moradabad, visibility has reduced in many areas. According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum and minimum temperature in these areas will also fall.

Cold In many parts of Rajasthan, people are suffering from cold. A drop of two to four degrees Celsius has been recorded in the minimum temperature. The weather may remain clear in some areas. According to the Meteorological Department, mercury dropped in many parts of the state including Jaipur, Bikaner and Bharatpur on Saturday. The minimum temperature in these areas is likely to drop by two to three degrees Celsius in the next few days. Apart from this, dense fog may occur in the western and northern regions of the state.
How will the weather be in Mumbai?
Some parts of Maharashtra may see some effect of cold. There is a possibility of fog in the sky in Mumbai. On Sunday, the maximum temperature in Mumbai is expected to be 29 degree Celsius, while the minimum temperature is expected to be 20 degree Celsius. The weather will be pleasant in Mumbai and Pune at night. With this, the day will be hot in these areas. Along with this, winds can blow at a speed of 8 kmph in some parts of Madhya Pradesh.

Outbreak of cold is also being seen in the north-eastern parts of the country. People are resorting to fire. Light rain activity can be observed over parts of Northeast India. Fog and cold weather have increased the difficulties in many districts of Bihar and Jharkhand. There is a possibility of fog in Ranchi, Patna cities with a maximum of 19 degrees and a minimum of 10 degrees in the morning. On the other hand, there has been a drop in the temperature in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal. The weather here can be pleasant. A foggy morning in Guwahati marks the start of the New Year’s routine for people.
How is the cold in Jammu and Kashmir?
It is freezing cold in most parts of Jammu and Kashmir. Along with this, there has been some respite from the bone-chilling cold in some areas and the minimum temperature has reached above the freezing point. The people of Srinagar are getting some respite from the bitter cold as the minimum temperature crossed the freezing point. Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 0.4 degree Celsius.
According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department (IMD), the weather is likely to remain dry in some parts of South India. Some major cities of South India like Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad are likely to experience warm weather.
