Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh): Chief Minister Mohan Yadav cleaned the Ram Ghat of Kshipra river here on Monday morning, under the Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan. He along with Swami Krishna Giri of Haryana Ashram also took a dip in the river, offered worship and sought her blessings.
On the occasion, the CM said that Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan was a special campaign to revive the old historical water sources of the state. Under this, work was also being done to make the rivers flow again. The origin of the Betwa river near Bhopal had been revived.
The specialty of this campaign was that historical, old bowlis (stepwells) , wells, ponds and water sources were being revived. He said that in the country and in the whole world, Narmada was the only river parikrama (circumambulation) of which was performed.
The state government would make arrangements for the pilgrims by organising the parikrama site of Narmada river, he said, adding 29 km of ghats of river Kshipra were also being built which would facilitate the pilgrims doing the parikrama of Kshipra.
Yadav further said that the Silarkhedi Sevarkhedi reservoir project was going on to make the Kshipra flow in Ujjain. Kahn Close Duct Project was also underway to maintain the cleanliness of the Kshipra and 50 percent of its work was almost complete. In the next two years, the Kshipra would flow freely.
He said that Ujjain had been a major centre of time calculation along with being a historical and mythological city. Akbar, Jahangir and Shahjahan also stayed in Ujjain and gained the knowledge of time calculation by reaching Bhartrahari cave.
“It is not only a historical and religious city but also a scientific city. We are constantly trying to re-establish its glory. Much work has been done for Ujjain by Raja Bhartrahari, Samat Vikramaditya, emperor Ashoka and other great kings,” the CM said.
CM Pays tribute to Ratan Mohini
Later, CM Yadav reached the Brahmakumari Ashram Shiv Darshan Dham located near Ved Nagar Gujarati Dharamshala and participated in a programme organised in memory of Raj Yogini Dr Ratan Mohini on her demise. He paid tributes and offered flowers on her picture.
Ratan Mohini was the chief administrator and national president of the youth division of Prajapita Brahmakumari Ishwariya University. She was 101 years old and passed away on April 8. Brahmakumari Ashram Usha Didi and other members were present.
