The city witnessed a warm and sunny weekend and no large change is expected for the next couple of days. On Sunday, Mumbai recorded a maximum temperature of 34.3 degrees Celsius, which was 3.4 degrees Celsius above normal, and a minimum temperature of 20 degrees Celsius, which was 2.8 degrees Celsius above normal.
As per the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) weather report for Mumbai City and Suburbs for the next 48 hours, the maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 35 and 19 degrees Celsius respectively. The skies will be mainly clear.
The IMD has already predicted a warm February this year. As the city will soon transition from winter to summer season, the mercury is expected to jump further. “Till February 11 the maximum temperature will be around 35 degrees Celsius. However, from Wednesday, the city would experience a slight fall in the mercury, before the temperature jumps again by the weekend. The rise and fall in the mercury will continue as the wind pattern changes. But the overall temperature this month will be above normal,” said Director of IMD Mumbai Sunil Kamble.
Meanwhile, January 2025 was the third hottest January Mumbai witnessed. The average maximum temperature for the month was 33 degrees Celsius, with the mercury in January’s first week crossing 36 degrees Celsius, the highest since 2016. The month of February too is expected to be warm. As per IMD Mumbai’s report, the highest maximum temperature for February 2025 was 37.5 degrees Celsius.
The overall Air Quality Index (AQI) of Mumbai remained under ‘Moderate’ category on Sunday. However, several areas recorded an AQI above 150. The areas with poor AQI included:

Navy Nagar-Colaba – 164
Borivali East – 162
Siddharth Nagar- Worli- 158
BKC – 150
