Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag didn’t hold himself back from trolling MS Dhoni and Chennai Super Kings after their forgettable outing in the IPL 2025 game against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Friday. When asked if Dhoni’s controversial dismissal made any difference, Sehwag rejected the notion saying only their live show would have been delayed.

The dismissal of Dhoni for 1 occurred in the 16th over as the keeper-batter tried to turn a delivery from Sunil Narine on the on-side but missed it completely and it hit the pad. With the umpire raising the finger instantly, the 43-year-old went for the review. Although snicko seemed to show a spike on the bat, the third umpire ruled it out, sparking debates about the dismissal.

With Jatin Sapru asking whether Dhoni’s dismissal would have made the difference, Sehwag rejected it and said:

“Mujhe nahin lagta. Agar out nahin hote, aur woh khelte, maximum 130 ban jaate. KKR ne 10.2 over mein chase kiye. 11:30 baje aate live pe. Bas itna hee hota.”

(I don’t think there would have been any difference. If that wouldn’t have been out and Dhoni played, 130 might have been the target. KKR chased down 104 in 10.2 overs. Our live show would have been delayed to 11:30. That’s it.)
