ICC Chairman Jay Shah will launch the “Donate Organs, Save Lives” awareness campaign ahead of the 3rd ODI between India and England at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Jay Shah shared the announcement on social media stating,
“On the occasion of the 3rd ODI between India and England in Ahmedabad on February 12th, we are proud to launch an awareness initiative – ‘Donate Organs, Save Lives.’
Sport has the power to inspire, unite, and create lasting impact beyond the field. Through this initiative, we urge everyone to take a step towards giving the greatest gift of all – the gift of life. One pledge, one decision, can save multiple lives. Let’s come together and make a difference!”
Indian players have also joined the campaign to spread awareness. The BCCI shared a video where Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Hardik Pandya, and other players encouraged people to consider organ donation.
Virat Kohli said, “Score the ultimate century. Your organs can help others live beyond your lifetime. Register as a donor and make every life count.”
Also, Shubman Gill, India’s ODI vice-captain, added, “Be the captain of life. Just like a captain leads the team to victory, you can lead someone to life by pledging to donate your organs.”
India sealed the series
Meanwhile, India has already sealed the three-match ODI series with a comfortable win over England in Cuttack. Skipper Rohit Sharma played a crucial role, scoring his 32nd ODI century to help India win by four wickets and take 2-0 lead.
After the ODI series, India will travel to Dubai for the Champions Trophy, starting on February 19. Their first match is against Bangladesh, followed by a high-stakes clash with Pakistan on February 23, and a match against New Zealand on March 2.
