Team India batting star Virat Kohli hugged a fan as soon as he entered the Bhubaneswar airport to leave for Ahmedabad with the other players ahead of their third ODI against England in Ahmedabad on February 12, Wednesday. In a video surfaced on social media, Kohli was soon taken away by the police personnel after hugging the female fan.
The former Indian captain perished for a single-figure score on Sunday in the second ODI against England at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. Leg-spinner Adil Rashid got the better of him for 5 as the right-handed batter nicked off to keeper Phil Salt. With England opting for the DRS, it fell in their favour. However, the Men in Blue still won comfortably and took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.
Meanwhile, below is the video of Kohli hugging the female fan at the airport:
Team India to play their first match in Ahmedabad since the 2023 World Cup final
Meanwhile, the hosts will not have happy memories of the Narendra Modi Stadium as they gear up to play in Ahmedabad against England. It was the venue where they lost the 50-over World Cup final convincingly to Australia in front of over 1,30,000 despite starting as overwhelming favourites.
However, Kohli can take some confidence from that event, given he scored a hard-fought half-century that night to propel their side to a respectable total. With the Champions Trophy 2025 also looming, the veteran batter will be eager to be amongst the runs against England in Ahmedabad.
