Jhalawar: A shocking video has surfaced on social media showing a driver recklessly endangering a child’s life by seating him on the bonnet of a speeding car in the Gurjar Ka Dhaba area, located along National Highway 52 in Rajasthan’s Jhalawar for Instagram reels. The incident has proved that people can go to any extent for few likes and shares on social media. The video has sparked widespread outrage, prompting the Jhalawar Police to take suo motu cognizance of the incident.
The video shows a speeding black-coloured Maruti Alto car with a child on its bonnet. The video was shot by the passenger sitting in another car and the video went viral on social media. The child seems to be around 10-12 years old and there are reports that the car driver endangered his life for shooting reel for Instagram.
The car’s number is also visible in the video. The Alto car had the license number ‘RJ17CB3024’ and the police are examining the viral video to nab the accused. There are no reports of any police action in connection with the matter. The exact time and date of the video is not ascertained yet. However, the video was shared by Live Hindustan on its official X account on Thursday.
Police Action and Investigation
The police have launched an investigation into the matter after the video went viral on social media. “The footage clearly shows a driver placing a young child on the bonnet of a moving car, recklessly endangering their life,” said Police. The police are using the car’s license plate to trace the vehicle’s owner and have said that it will take strict legal action once the driver is apprehended.
Reckless Stunts on the Rise
This is not the first instance of such behaviour in Jhalawar. The local police have been cracking down on individuals performing dangerous stunts for social media. In a prior case, two individuals were caught executing risky maneuvers on a speeding car. The police confiscated their vehicles and initiated legal proceedings, underscoring their commitment to ensuring public safety.
The latest case serves as a grim reminder of the consequences of social media obsession. Reckless actions not only endanger the individuals involved but also pose risks to bystanders and other road users.
Public Awareness and Appeal
Authorities have called on parents, educators, and community leaders to raise awareness about the dangers of performing stunts and the consequences of unsafe behavior on public roads. As per reports from ETV Bharat, “We urge everyone, especially the youth, to prioritize safety over social media popularity. Such actions are not only unlawful but can lead to tragic outcomes,” the police added.
The police have assured the public that they will leave no stone unturned in apprehending the driver involved in this reckless act and will continue to take stringent measures against similar offenses.
