Haryana Government has taken a big step to promote digitalization of rural areas. All the villages in the state will now be connected to high-speed internet. Under this initiative, fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) internet connections will be provided free of cost in collaboration with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL). This scheme will not only make government work easier but will also bring a big change in the everyday life of the villagers.

Free FTTH connection: Unique step of the government

Haryana Government in collaboration with BSNL has decided to provide high-speed internet facility to government institutions in every Panchayat.

  • Free service for two years:
    Every Panchayat will be given 10 free FTTH connections for the next two years.
  • Expansion of digital operations:
    These connections will be mainly used to digitalize government functioning.
  • Improvement in online services:
    File transfers, applications on government portals, and other digital tasks can be done faster through internet connection.

About 39% of the population in Haryana lives in rural areas.

    About 1 crore villagers will benefit from this scheme.
  • Relief from the hustle and bustle of cities:
    Villagers will not need to go to the city for small or big government works.
  • Help to farmers:
    Farmers will be able to apply on the compensation portal from their village itself.
