Sardarpur (Madhya Pradesh): Residents of Bola village in Sardarpur tehsil raised serious allegations against Patwari Umed Singh Khatedia, accusing him of demanding bribe and treating villagers rudely.
Frustrated by the ongoing harassment for minor administrative tasks, the villagers submitted a memorandum to tehsildar Mukesh Bamnia, highlighting rampant corruption.
According to the memorandum submitted by Indian National Student Organisation (INSO), the Patwari allegedly demands thousands of rupees for simple tasks such as signing forms, land demarcation and site inspections.
As per reports, he requests around Rs 5k for these services and if villagers refuse to pay, he resorts to abusive language and denies them assistance. Despite a prior complaint lodged with the collector on February 5, no action has been taken till date.
The inaction in the matter has caused frustration and widespread anger among villagers. They warned if immediate measures are not taken against the patwari, they will resort to strike and gherao in the office. Tehsildar Bamnia assured that an investigation will be initiated and appropriate measures will be taken in the matter.
