Mumbai: A real estate businessman from Vikhroli was threatened with extortion by a man posing as underworld dons Dawood Ibrahim, Chhota Shakeel, and Lawrence Bishnoi’s aide. Initially demanding ₹3 crore, the accused later reduced the amount to ₹1 crore. He warned the businessman of dire consequences if he failed to pay. Acting on the businessman’s complaint, Parksite Police arrested the accused, identified as Shalam Bismillah Khan (65).
According to the police, the incident began on October 17, 2024, when the businessman received a call from someone claiming to be Dawood Ibrahim calling from Dubai. Later, the caller introduced himself as Chhota Shakeel and demanded extortion money, citing that the businessman was earning well and must pay. When the businessman questioned the caller’s identity, he was threatened with the mention of Lawrence Bishnoi’s name. The caller warned him not to inform the police before hanging up.
Initially ignoring the threats, the businessman decided to report the matter after repeated extortion demands using notorious names. Following the complaint, police traced and arrested Shalam Bismillah Khan from the Vikhroli area on January 14, 2025. The accused is now in custody as investigations continue.
