Mumbai – A Gondia court acquitted Bollywood actor Vijay Raj in 2020 in a sexual harassment case registered by a colleague.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Mahendra Sorate of Gondia has removed the allegations against the actor. A crew member alleged that the actor had sexually assaulted him five years ago during the shooting of the film ‘Sherni’.

According to a complaint lodged by Ramnagar police station in Gondia, the alleged crime was carried out on the night of October 25, 2020 and on the morning of October 29, 2020.

Raj was arrested on 4 November 2020 in Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh. Members of the film crew were living here. He was granted bail on the same day. The incident took place at the hotel, but the investigating officer was ordered not to go to the spot.

The names of two-three people staying in the hotel were also lodged in the complaint, but the judge said their statements were not recorded. The investigating officer did not conduct any further investigation. The government’s evidence is weak and insufficient. The court said that CCTV footage is also not clear. The court said that the accused was given the benefit of suspicion. Oral charges are not enough to convict the accused.

The actor’s lawyer said that Raj, who was shooting near Nagpur, not only had to leave the film in the middle, but after that he also stopped getting work.
