Unnao, Uttar Pradesh: In an intensified crackdown on corruption, Uttar Pradesh’s Vigilance officials arrested two clerks in Unnao for accepting a Rs 30,000 bribe. Amit Kumar, posted at the District School Inspector’s (DIOS) office, and Amit Bharti of Government Girls Inter College (GGIC) were caught red-handed during a sting operation, as per a report by NBT.
The arrests were made after Civil Lines resident Lal Singh complained to the Vigilance Department’s Lucknow sector about the illegal activity. Singh had installed CCTV cameras at GGIC, but the clerks allegedly demanded a bribe to clear the payment. Amit Kumar used Amit Bharti as a middleman to collect the money.
