Heavy snowfall in November

Saudi Arabia, known as a desert and dry area, has seen a sudden change in the weather in the last six-seven months. Aura has spread in areas with low and negligible rainfall. Earlier in November there had been snowfall in the desert areas. Life has become disrupted due to heavy snowfall and storm. Being an arid area, there is no drainage system due to heavy rains, resulting in floods. Saudi Arabia’s Meteorological Department has issued a red alert in areas near the Red Sea. Schools have also been closed. Heavy rain is expected till January 10.

Impact of global warming on sand dunes

Four months ago, the Sahara desert had become a lake due to floods. A situation of water-bombing was created everywhere. The effect of global warming is being seen not only in Saudi but also in India. Rajasthan, considered a desert region in India, also received heavy rainfall in August 2024. It has now become necessary to address these negative impacts on the environment, otherwise there is a fear that climate change will cause the greatest damage to human life in the future.
