Cyclone Fengal has adversely impacted Southern regions like Tamil Nadu, Bengaluru, and Pondicherry, including landslides, flooded roads, delayed and terminated flights and more. In a video from the flooded street of Pondicherry, we could see a dog partially submerged in water due to the climatic effect caused by the cyclone.

The Union Territory saw waterlogging in many of its lanes and gullies due to deep depression of the cyclone.

Cyclone Fengal in Pondicherry

The region witnessed a heavy rainfall, which left streets waterlogged, making it a difficult situation for stray animals. While the cyclone gave the UT its highest rainfall record in 30 years, the torrential rains and severe climate left many scared.

While humans could rush to a safe shelter at their homes, the plight of stray animals during such a calamity was concerning.

A stray dog was seen looking for help when the rainwater filled the streets of Pondicherry as an impact of Cyclone Fengal. Visuals showed the animal standing near a closed shop on the roadside. It’s legs were submerged in water and the animal appeared to be looking for assistance.

The video showed one of the locals approaching the dog and carefully lifting it. The man appeared to be rescuing the dog from the waterlogged area. He was seen picking up the stray animal from the roadside purportedly to carry it to a safer place.

News agency ANI uploaded the video online and wrote, “A Dog stuck in the water was rescued as a flood-like situation continues in parts of Puducherry following incessant rainfall”.
