A video of a dog licking milk placed in front of the Kalbhairav deity in a local temple in Ujjain is being widely circulated on the internet. It shows the animal standing beside a ‘dog’ statue and drinking the milk poured there. On the note that a dog is the ‘vahana’ of Lord Kalbhairav, this visual from the temple premises showing a real dog consuming the milk offered to the dog statue is going viral.

In a bowl carved in the hands of the dog statue, there was some milk. Below that, there were pieces of bread. These settings along with the dog wearing a neck belt suggested the animal to be domesticated by the temple authorities.

Video: Dog drinks milk at Kalbhairav temple

The visuals surfaced from the ‘Shri Chamatkaari’ Kalbhairav’ temple, which was mentioned to be located in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh.

In the video, the dog was seen drinking the milk placed in the hands of the dog statue situated in front of Kalbhairav’s deity. While there were also bread slices placed there, the dog didn’t consume them. It was seen accepting the milk poured in the bowl-like structure carved on the dog statue in the temple premises.

Is this viral video from the famous Kalbhairav temple in Ujjain?

The main temple of Kalbhairav, who is fondly addressed as Bhairav Baba, is situated in Varanasi, while there’s also a noted temple of him in Ujjain. Devotees who take the darshan of the Mahakal Jyotirling in Madhya Pradesh initially seek blessings of Bhairav Baba and then proceed to the Shiva temple. However, one must note that the viral video has not surfaced from the famous Kalbhairav temple in Ujjain.

Dogs Of Ujjain

The video was uploaded online by a dog lovers’ page which shared it with the hashtag “Dogs Of Ujjain”.

Captioning the footage, The Bark Organisation wrote on Instagram, “Ujjain, the city of temples, where spirituality and compassion converge. Here, amidst the sacred streets and revered shrines, lies a unique and heartwarming phenomenon – dogs are treated with the same reverence as gods. In this sacred city, dogs are considered the vahan (vehicle) of Kalbhairav Ji, the revered deity of Ujjain. As a result, these furry friends are showered with love, care, and respect by the locals”.

This video has received more than a million views on Instagram.

Many other social media users also shared this video chanting “Jai Ho Bhairav Baba” and “Om Namah Shivaya”.
