The charismatic fast bowler Jaspreet Bumrah was awarded the Poly Umrigar Award for the best international cricketer of 2023-24 in the men’s category by the Indian Cricket Board, while the award was won by opener Smriti Mandhana in the women’s category. Bumrah was elected Test and Overall Best Cricketer by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 2024 for his brilliant performance with his skill, accuracy and continuity. The award will be submitted to the players on Saturday (1 February).

Veteran fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah performed brilliantly for India last year and played a key role in India’s home series against England and Bangladesh. 31-year-old Bumrah had the distinction of becoming the best player of the series against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and took 32 wickets in five Tests.

ICC’s best female ODI cricketer Smriti Mandhana scored 743 runs, scoring four ODI centuries, a record of the highest century in a year in women’s format. He set over 100 boundaries last year, including 95 fours and six sixes. The 28 -year -old scored an average of 57.86 in the ODI matches of Mandhana at an average of 57.86 and an impressive strike rate of 95.15.

Bumrah has won the Poly Umrigar Award for the third time after 2018-19 and 2021-22. Virat Kohli won it five times, Sachin Tendulkar and Ravichandran Ashwin twice, while Shubman Gill won it for his best performance in ODIs last year.
