Maharashtra Congress again blames EVM: Maharashtra Congress leader MLA Bhai Jagtap has created a stir in politics by giving a controversial statement on the Election Commission. Jagtap compared the Election Commission to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dog. Also, when asked again in this matter, he has always stood by his statement.
Jagtap compared the Election Commission to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dog and gave an insulting statement saying, ‘Election Commission is a dog, all these agencies are sitting outside the bungalow of dog banker Modiji.’ And has also clearly refused to apologise. It is noteworthy that Congress submitted a memorandum to the CEO of the State Election Commission alleging irregularities in the recently held assembly elections in Maharashtra.
allegations of electoral malpractice
Questioning the election results, Jagtap said that the people of Maharashtra were against the current Mahayuti government, but due to a malfunction in the EVM (Electronic Voting Machine), the results came in their favor. These election results are unexpected. We don’t believe in it. The people of the state were completely against the Mahayuti government, but the entire credit for this goes to EVMs. I would say that EVMs were hacked at many places.
refused to apologize
Jagtap said, ‘I will not apologize. If the Election Commission is working under pressure from the Prime Minister and other ministers then what I said is true. He advised the Election Commission to become like former Chief Election Commissioner TN Seshan for impartiality.
Questions raised again on EVM
On the petitions filed in the Supreme Court questioning the reliability of EVMs, Jagtap said, ‘VVPAT slips should be investigated. The Supreme Court had recommended counting of 5 percent VVPAT slips, but that too has not been done. If there is any fault in this system then it should be investigated and amended. ‘The possibility of ballot tampering has been eliminated.’
Mahayuti replied
Shiv Sena’s Deepak Kesarkar demanded strict action from the Election Commission, saying, “The Election Commission is a constitutional authority and Bhai Jagtap should apologize.” BJP MLA and leader of opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijendra Gupta called it a shameful statement. He said, “Indian democracy and electoral system is an example for the world. Whenever Congress loses an election it gets nervous.” Haryana Minister Rajesh Nagar has also slammed Tika Bhai Jagtap for raising questions on the democratic system, terming his statement as inappropriate.
