Australian cricketer Stuart McGill convicted in drug case: Former Australian Test match cricketer cocaine deal has been convicted. A Sydney court has found Australian spinner Stuart McGill guilty of involvement in the cocaine deal, but has given him a ‘clean chit’ from allegations of his involvement in the supply of drugs on a large scale.

The Jury of the Sydney District Court has found the 54 -year -old former leg spinner guilty of joining a kilo cocaine deal of $ 330,000 in April 2021. However, he has been acquitted of allegations of involvement in the supply of drugs. According to Australian media reports, when the court found McGill guilty, there was no feeling of concern on his face. Now he will be sentenced after eight weeks in this case.

McGill approached drug dealer

According to the court arguments, McGill introduced his close relative Marinos Sotiropolos to his regular drug dealer at his restaurant in Sydney. However, McGil has denied the allegations. He said, “I have no information about this deal.” But the prosecutors claimed that the deal would not have been possible without their participation.

 

What was the matter?

McGill had set a meeting between his brother -in -law Marinos Sotiropolos and his regular drug supplier. Both had signed a $ 330,000 deal instead of a kilo of cocaine. Both met at McGills Restaurant.

Stuart McGill represented Australia in 44 Test matches (1998–2008). During this, he took 208 wickets. His best bowling performance in the innings was 8/108.
