Vandana Kataria has said goodbye to international hockey. 32 -year -old striker Vandana, who played 320 matches for India, has played the most matches in the history of Indian women’s hockey. She said that she is saying goodbye to the peak of her golden 15 -year career.

Significantly, Kataria Tokaria, who made his debut in the senior team in 2009, was part of the fourth place in the Olympics 2020, in which he also took a hat -trick. She is the first and only Indian woman player to do so. Kataria, a resident of Roshanabad in Haridwar, played the last match for India in the FIH Pro League in Bhubaneswar in February.

Sharing a post about this, Vandana wrote, “Today I am retiring from international hockey with a heavy but grateful mind.” This decision is also empowered and tragic. I am not resigning because the fire inside me is extinguished or because I have no passion left for hockey. But this is because I want to retire on the pinnacle of my career. While I am still in my best position.

He further wrote that this farewell was not due to fatigue. This is an option to leave the international platform on my terms. My head will be high and my sticks will still be burning with fire. The thrill of every goal and the pride of wearing the jersey of India will always echo in my mind.

 

 

He wrote on Instagram that my late father was my guru. Without them, my dreams are never fulfilled. His sacrifice and love laid the foundation of my game. He gave me a platform to dream, fight and win. Recently a stadium was named after Vandana Kataria in Roshanabad, Haridwar.
