Vaishno Devi Ropeway: Lakhs of devotees from all over the country come to visit Vaishno Devi. But now something is going to happen that this journey will be completed in just an hour. Actually, Vaishno Devi Shrine Board is now going to prepare a ropeway from Katra to Aam Chhat.

The journey from Katra to Vaishno Devi is 14 km. It takes pilgrims at least seven hours to climb it on foot. Even if someone wants to do this journey sitting on a horse, it takes three to four hours. Pilgrims who go to Aam Chhat by helicopter from Katra also have to walk two and a half kilometers from there, which takes two to two and a half hours. But now the government is going to prepare such a facility, through which the entire journey from Katra to Bhawan can be covered in just one hour.
Around Rs 300 crore will be spent on ropeway.
Vaishno Devi Shrine Board is going to construct ropeway from Katra to Sanjichhat. It is being told that around Rs 300 crore will be spent on this project. Around one thousand devotees will be able to travel through this ropeway throughout the day. It is being told that this ropeway will become operational from the year 2026. The completion of this project will provide great relief to the pilgrims.
Senior citizens and children will get special facilities
The opening of Katra-Sanjhi rooftop ropeway will further increase the number of people visiting Vaishno Devi. Those who were till now unable to travel on foot or horse will be able to reach Aam Terrace from Katra through ropeway. From there they will be able to cover the two and a half kilometer distance to the building very easily on foot, horse or palanquin. This will provide a lot of convenience to the elderly and children. With this, pilgrims will now get another option for Vaishno Devi Yatra.
Opposition to ropeway project intensifies
The opposition to the ropeway project being built on Tarakot road by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board has intensified. Shopkeepers and local traders of Katra have come on the streets regarding this project. Calling it a threat to their livelihood, shopkeepers have announced a 72-hour strike. They say that the construction of this ropeway will threaten their livelihood. This will affect many families.
