V. Somanna, Minister of State for Railways and Jalshakti inspected the works of Thimmarajanahalli Railway Yard under construction as part of Tumkur – Chitradurga – Davangere New Railway Line project.
He said that the proposed Thimmarajanahalli Goods Shed will provide railway connectivity to CBIC-TITL Industrial Park. It is Hon’ble PM Modi’s commitment to enhance ease of doing business and reduce logistics cost to boost industrial production. Industries will be extended wholehearted support for setting up Gati Shakti Cargo Terminals, Hon’ble Minister said.
As part of Chennai – Bengaluru Industrial Corridor, an industrial node is coming up at Vasanth Narsapura, Tumkur. Hon’ble PM had laid foundation stone for Phase A of the project in 2023. This initiative aims to create about 90,000 jobs and fetch Rs 7000 crore investment.
He said that Railways is committed to support industrial development in the region. He explored the planning of providing railway connectivity to the Industrial township.
The Minister reviewed the progress of the Tumkur–Davanagere railway line and assured that the work would be completed within the stipulated timelines. Somanna advised railway officials to prioritize the timely completion of all ongoing works, with a focus on future needs.
The 191 km Tumakuru–Davanagere new line project connects important places like Chitradurga, Sira, Hiriyur, Lakshmisagar, and Tholahunse. The total length of the project is 191.00 km, with a sanctioned cost of ₹1,801 crore. The project covers Tumakuru, Chitradurga, and Davanagere districts, including 17 stations, 1 halt, and 1 junction.
