Uttar Pradesh News: Historical elevated railway track and Atal station construction started in Kanpur

A historic step has been taken in the field of infrastructure and railway development in Kanpur city of Uttar Pradesh. This project will not only improve passenger service, but will also carry forward economic and urban development faster. After getting the approval of DPR (detail project report) from the Ministry of Railways, the work of constructing the first elevated railway track and Atal station in Kanpur has started. This Rs 995 crore project will provide relief from the jam on the railway crossing to about 50 lakh people in two Lok Sabha constituencies of Kanpur. Also, the value of the surrounding property and infrastructure will also increase.

Kanpur’s first elevated railway track

The first elevated railway track so far will be built in Kanpur city, so that about 50 lakh people living in two Lok Sabha constituencies of the city will be able to be free from the jam at 18 railway crossings. The project has been approved at a cost of Rs 995 crore. Along with the railway, the construction of this track will also provide connectivity to two major stations of the metro, SPM Hospital and CSJMU. Also, a skywalk will be constructed for passengers, so that smooth connectivity between metro and railway stations can be ensured.

Construction will be completed in two phases

This ambitious project will be constructed in two phases. In the first phase, Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee railway station will be built in front of Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University. The project is expected to be completed in the next two years after the tender process begins in April 2025. The foundation stone of the Mandhana-Anwarganj elevated railway track will also be laid soon, which will improve the connectivity of North and South Kanpur and provide relief to more than 2 million people per day.

Land acquisition and government approval

Under this project, railway officials have investigated the land of the Agriculture Department and a total of 150 buildings and shops will be acquired, for which the state government will provide compensation. All necessary approval including DPR has been received, and now there is no obstacle. The 16.25 km long Anwarganj-Gandhana railway elevated track will be prepared in the next two years, which will completely change the picture of Kanpur.

The city will be free and connectivity will improve

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav have given priority to this project. After the completion of this project, traders, patients, employees and passengers of Kanpur will get better and convenient travel experience. The administration claims that the project will be completed on time and will contribute significantly to the development of Kanpur.
