Taking the warnings of the Meteorological Department seriously, the state government has decided to make changes in the operation of schools, giving priority to the health of the students. Special orders in this regard have been issued in major districts like Lucknow and Gorakhpur.
New schedule implemented from 25 April
According to the instructions issued by the Lucknow District Magistrate, now all schools (government, aided, private and council) from primary to class 8 will be operated from 7:30 am to 12:30 pm. This instruction will be applicable from 25 April 2025 till further orders.
Gorakhpur DM has also ordered the implementation of the same time table in all schools from class 1 to 12 due to heat. No classes, physical exercises, sports or programs will be allowed to be allowed in the afternoon – the school board examinations and the already approved educational activities by the administration.
Complete ban on sports and physical activity
Under these orders, physical activities, races, rally or exercises have been completely banned in school premises to protect children from heat and dehydration. Schools have also been instructed to ensure that they make sufficient arrangements for soft drinking water, shady place, and first aid in the premises.
Action will be taken on violation
The District Magistrates have also clarified that if a school does not follow these orders, strict legal action will be taken against it. If a school is to be operated after noon in an unavoidable situation, then before the district administration permission will be mandatory.

These orders have been published on the official websites of the districts and the Information Department has been instructed to inform parents and schools through major news mediums.
