Use of Aadhaar face authentication increased rapidly, more than 130.5 crore transactions were recorded

Since the launch of the Aadhaar Face Authentication solution in October 2022, a total of more than 130.5 crore transactions have been recorded, out of which about 102 crore transactions have taken place in the financial year 2024-25. These figures show how useful and convenient this feature is becoming for base holders.

395 million face authentication transactions took place in three months from January to March 2025. In particular, more than 152.5 crore transactions were recorded in the month of March, indicating an increase of 21.6 percent compared to February.

This achievement underlines the increasing confidence and acceptance of this new biometric authentication method in various fields including financial technology, financial services and telecommunications. Many services of the central and state governments are using this technology to easily benefit the beneficiaries. Aadhaar face authentication is being used in important schemes like PM Awas (Urban), PM E-Drive, PM-JAY, PM Ujjwala, PM Kisan and PM Internship.

This technique is proving useful especially for senior citizens and people whose fingerprints are not clear due to physical work or health problems. Currently 102 government and private sector organizations are using this facility.

This AI-based solution works on both Android and iOS platforms. This video is protected from any attack such as attacks or static photo authentication and provides convenience without contact and anytime, anytime.

The ministry said in a statement that the certification method allows users to verify their identity only with facial scans, which are simple as well as maintain strict safety standards.
